Run like a girl!

Yesterday morning I woke up at 5:30 am, I was too nervous to sleep, my friend Misty and I have been training for a 5k the past month or so. When she first mentioned it to me, I laughed and said I wouldn't be able to do it. I am NOT a runner, never have been, never had any desire to. Didn't really ever see the appeal. I still don't think I really enjoy it, but it was a goal I was willing to see if I could accomplish. When we started I think we both surprised ourselves in how far we could actually run. So we set our sights on doing a 5k at some point. We found one that was going on Mother's Day weekend in the Dilworth area of Charlotte. Girls on the Run is a national organization that helps get young girls active. There were TONS of little girls there taking part in the race, it was actually kind of inspiring to see so many young kids participating and getting excited about it. It was a great experience and I'm so proud of myself and Misty for following through and finishing. I didn't finish with the time I was hoping for (30 mintues), but I finished (32:40), something I didn't think possible a little over a month ago!
