Baseball and Bikes with Andrew

Sunday afternoon I took Mary McLean down and met my parents near Winnsboro to drop her off with them for a few days. Andrew therefore had Marc, Emma and me all to himself until Wednesday. When I got back Sunday afternoon, Andrew was itching to go outside. It was such a hot day, Marc and I really weren't up for much "activity" outside. We recently signed Andrew up for T-Ball, so Marc told him to grab his baseball glove and they would go outside and practice catching the ball with the glove. After he was getting that pretty well, we pulled his baseball batting T out and let him practice hitting the ball. He did so great, and was batting right AND left handed! We took a break and came inside for dinner, but as soon as we were finished, he was ready to head back outside to play some more. We set up his cones as the bases and had a little family baseball game. Emma got to bat with me and run around the bases. She was laughing and giggling away as we were running. It was such a fun night together. I think we have found Andrew's "sport" he seems really taken with baseball, and I think he will at least go in with a little understanding of what to do, unlike with soccer.

On Monday after dinner, we took Andrew up behind the pool in our neighborhoood to practice riding his bike without training wheels. All in all, he did pretty well for the first time trying. He got really frustrated though when he would tip over. I think he really thought he was just going to be able to go out there and do it, he didn't realize that it was going to take a lot of practice. Unfortunately storms kept us from doing the same thing again on Tuesday night, so we went for ice cream instead! ;)

On Wednesday, Andrew had his Kindergarten screening at his new school. I think he was really excited to be in the school and especially to see the "cool" playground! ;) Just one more month until he starts!
Thursday morning we had Andrew's cardiologist appointment. They did an EKG and it came out normal, so they didn't have to do the ultrasound of his heart...thank goodness! The doctor came in and listened to his heart and had him do several different things to see how his heart beat reacted. He said he was a healthy little boy and the murmur was nothing to worry about. YAY!!! We don't need to go back again to see them for followup or anything either! :) I don't know why, but for some reason I really was not worried about this appointment. I knew in my heart that everything was going to be fine, so I never thought twice about it. I'm so glad everything came back normal!
