It was that time of year again. Time for "Pops' show" as the kids call it. Pops helps put together a hunting and fishing show every year called the Palmetto Sportsman's Classic. The kids love to go, now I will tell you, there is not a whole lot for them to do there, but they love it all the same. We got down there a little before 2 on Friday and met up with Pops. We walked around and tried to kill some time before our 3:00 fishing time slot. The kids sat and colored some coloring pages for a little while, and we looked at some of the animals (read:snakes and other gross things).
The girls really liked this giant turtle (or is it a tortoise?)
Andrew on the fishing simulator, reeling in a sailfish. He really had to work for that one! LOL
Emma waiting for a bite
I think we have only ever caught 1 fish in this thing, but the kids still want to do it year after year.
Emma enjoying some ice cream while waitng for Twiggy. And no, I'm not talking about the former super-model. I'm talking about Twiggy, the water-skiing squirrel of course. Yes, there was a squirrel that water skiis at the show.
After watching Twiggy we walked on until Andrew found the rock wall that he wanted to try. This then became our go-to for the rest of the afternoon.
Andrew on his first attempt.
Andrew got about 1/3 of the way up, but never could get any higher. This became the source of much frustration for him, especially after what happened next...
Mary McLean getting harnessed up. She wanted a turn too.
Here she goes.
Already as high up as Andrew ever got.
Still going....
Such determination
Wow! She's really getting up there
Almost to the top
When you got to the top, there was a button to push that would ring a bell. She was determined to get there, and boy did she!
Coming down
So proud!
People were walking by and stopping to watch "that little girl!" Other exhibitors came over to ask where she got her "spider" skills from. She was showing up kids twice her age. It really was hilarious that our clumsy girl that can barely walk in a straight line without tripping climbed up to the top of this rock wall just like a little spider!
Emma hanging out on one of the boats
Here we go again
She couldn't get enough of it!
It was a great day at the Palmetto Sportsman's Classic, we couldn't have asked for better weather, or a better time. Thanks again Pops!
