Last Wednesday I got a call from Andrew's teacher Mrs. Woolbright. Her calling me in the middle of the day wasn't a great sign. She started out the conversation with, "Andrew isn't in trouble." Great. What does that mean. Evidently it means that another kid in his class punched him in the eye at recess. She assured me that Andrew had done nothing wrong and had not provoked the boy in any way, that when asked why he did it, his response was, "I just wanted to be mean." Fortunately Andrew didn't get a black eye from the incident. It was a little red around the edge and bloodshot when he got home, but no bruising. Andrew did exactly what he was supposed to when it happened and went to find the teacher, and didn't try to fight back. (Good thing too since I'm pretty sure the other kid has about 30lbs on him)!
All year long they have earned "money" in their Art class and they got to "buy" something with it on Wednesday. Andrew purchased a TaeBo DVD. Of all days! He loves exercise videos and I thought it was funny that the day someone punches him, he picks out a video that uses boxing moves.
