Emma Beth

This past week Marc and I had Emma all to ourselves.  Andrew was off at the beach with my uncle, and Mary McLean was spending her time at "Camp Nana" in Columbia.  I guess I should really say that, I had Emma all to myself as unfortunately it was a crazy work week for Marc with early and late meetings most every day.  I think he only got to spend about an hour total with Emma between Tuesday and Thursday (including a lunch date).  :(
I had a great week with my baby girl.  We had so much fun together, we went to the pool, a place called Funtastic where she painted a ceramic lollipop, Chick Fil A, several playgrounds, ice cream shop, a movie, and lunch with Daddy one day.  I think Emma really got into the only child thing, although she did ask several times when Mary Mac was coming home.  And the best part (in my opinion), was that she didn't shed a single tear or throw one tantrum the entire time (minus the time she was talking to Mary McLean on the phone and asked her to go to the playground with us, and MM said no)!  I got to see my sweet Emma again, that often gets overshadowed by her brother and sister and is having to fight for attention.  I told Marc one night that I could see why people are always telling us what a sweetie she is and how they want to steal her away from us, when she's not having to fight for her attention, she really is a little angel.  I'm sure the same could be said for each of my children.  I get so frustrated and overwhelmed by the sibling rivalry sometimes, that I sometimes forget how each of my children are their own individual just fighting for the attention that they crave and deserve from us. Growing up as an only child, this sibling rivalry is something completely new to me and I'm not as understanding as I should be about how they may, at times, feel as if they are being left out/overlooked.
It really was great quality time with her, I wish I had planned it so that I had this one on one time with each of them.  Ah well, there's always next summer!
Enjoy a few of the pictures I took of her at the park Wednesday morning.

Great post Marianne. What a gift that you were given to have this special time alone with Emma. It's amazing how much perspective a little time can give.

Very well said. I can completely relate. I feel like most of our discipline issues stem from sibling rivalry and if I could just get the kids one-on-one it would do all of us some good. So glad you were able to have that time with Emma!

It sounds like you had a super with with your sweet Emma! That is so special that you got to spend some one-on-one time with her.

Aw, what sweet memories you made with your little one! I try to do a few one-on-one things with each of my kiddos, too, but not nearly as often as we should!
On a side note, I love the crocs Emma is wearing...I wanted to order them for Rylee, but I was worried they'd be to narrow for her wide feet. I think I remember you saying that Emma has wide feet too. How do they fit and did you size them the same as the original crocs? Let me know- I may just have to order them after all! ;)
