Feeling green

Last week Emma and I had several reasons to go to Columbia.  Of course there's the two most obvious reasons, to see and pick up Mary McLean, and to see Nana and Pops.  The other two were just side benefits.  One- our favorite store down there, Enchanted Closet, was having a big sale on Spring/Summer merchandise, so we took Pops with us to get the girls outfitted for the Spring/Summer 2011 season.  :)  Yes, we buy ahead.  Two- I had a hair appointment.  Before you start asking why I would drive all the way to Columbia to have my hair done, let me just ask you where in Charlotte I can find someone to cut/highlight my hair for less than $100, and I mean someone that I can trust- not someone that's still in beauty school!  Alice has been doing mine and my mom's hair for as long as I can remember.  She gave me my first "real" haircut when I was in 3rd grade and much to my mother's displeasure I wanted to cut all my long locks off to a short bob like most of my friends had.  Alice has given me many different looks over the years, my "Rachel" hair cut when that first became popular back in high school, as well as what has been deemed my "Kelly Taylor" cut (you know the one, when Kelly showed up on BH 90210 one year with her hair all cut off?  I had one of those too- I actually had it when I met Marc, we won't even get into what he called that hair cut.  heehee).

Anywho, that is all beside the point, the point is, when I was washing Mary McLean's hair Thursday night after a swim at my parent's neighborhood pool, I noticed that the ends of her hair had turned green from chlorine exposure.  I had been wanting Mary McLean to get a haircut anyways, just to trim up her ends.  She's still in the mindset that she's going to have long hair like Sleeping Beauty.  She was terrified that I wanted to take her to get her hair trimmed to try and get rid of some of the green, but I convinced her that it was really best for her hair.  When I went to Alice on Friday I asked if there was any way she could squeeze Mary McLean in to try and trim her hair up.  She worked her in at the end of my appointment and cut 3 inches off her hair!  Mary McLean looks super cute and her hair looks healthy again.  Plus it was fun to take a picture of Alice cutting Mary McLean's hair, we have one of her giving me my first haircut too.
