Disney Day 2- Animal Kingdom and MK again

Day 2 we woke up to a brisk, cold day in sunny Florida.  We had plans to do Animal Kingdom that day because we had our first character breakfast planned at Tusker House.  Our original plan was to be there when the park opened at 8, go do the Safari, and then be done in time for breakfast.  When we arrived however, we realized Marc had left his pass in his pants pocket from the day before, so we waited while he went through guest services to get a temporary pass.  We didn't feel we had enough time to take the 30 minute safari before our reservations, so we took our time wandering through Animal Kingdom.  Andrew was most excited about being able to ride Expedition Everest again.  This was the first roller coaster he ever rode on when we went 2 years ago, and I think he likes this ride the most for that very reason.

Emma informed us that morning that she wanted Mickey to be her "first."  First character that is for her to approach.  When we were called back for our reservation, Donald Duck was waiting outside to get pictures with all the patrons before going in.  It looked like Emma was going to stick to her word and was not going anywhere near Donald with her brother and sister.

The cast member helping with pictures had the bright idea to have Emma stand a good distance in front of everyone, but still getting in the picture with Donald.

After that we all got in the picture, with me holding her.  Before we left, she was brave enough to talk to him and even give him a high five.  Then as I set her down to walk inside, she ran up to Donald and gave him a great big hug!  I was shocked (I think we all were), and I didn't have my camera back yet from the photographer, to snap a picture of her first encounter with a masked character!

Then we went inside for breakfast.  Luckily, Mickey was the first one to visit us at the table.

After braving Donald Duck, there was no holding her back from the characters.  She couldn't get enough of them for the rest of the trip!  She has her autograph book almost completely full with signatures!

Even big ole Goofy didn't scare this girl away!

As you can see her puffing her chest out, she was quite proud.  :)

She was most excited about Daisy Duck!

The girls even participated in a conga line lead around the restaurant by Mickey himself.

You can see Emma's pink bow behind the tall boy in the gray shirt.  She had the best time.

After breakfast we went on a very chilly safari ride.

Check out the horns on this guy!

Emma loved the giraffes, especially the little baby.

White Rhino

Andrew and Jimini Cricket

Pochahantas.  We missed her on our last trip to Disney, and Mary Mac was adamant that we see her the next time we went.

Andrew and Rafiki

Even Rafiki didn't scare Emma away.  I didn't think she would want to go up to him, thinking he may be a little frightening looking.  But as we were walking by and she spotted him, she dragged me over to him so she could get an autograph and picture.

Petting the goats

Andrew really liked this one with the horns

Emma and Mary Mac were eager to show Minnie Mouse their shirts with her head on them.

Miss Bunny???? I thought it was Thumper, but the cast member directing the line said it was Miss Bunny, Thumper's girlfriend.  Anyone out there have a clue what she is from????

Emma showing she was brave enough to go anywhere, she went back to Chip and Dale since she had been too scared the day before.

King Louie

We all got in the picture.- Andrew was on one of his 5 or 6 trips on Expedition Everest at this point.

That night we went back to Magic Kingdom for dinner and to watch the Electrical Parade and fireworks.  Andrew was very negative about watching some "dumb" parade, but by the end, he was singing a different tune and even told me it was "awesome."  :)

Some of the things I remembered from my 1st trip to Disney, way back when.

Like Cinderella

and Pete's Dragon (although my kids had no idea who that was), and all the little bugs that drive around in circles.  It was a great parade, and I'm so glad they've started it again.

Cinderella's castle before the fireworks.
