Lil Bucaneers- Day 3

Our 3rd day at the beach happened to be July 4th.  The kids always get excited about the 4th because they talk about the fireworks, only they've never ALL 3 seen the fireworks since one of them always falls asleep before they start.  We had been telling Mary McLean that she was getting a surprise the morning of the 4th, but she had no idea what it was.  She tried many guesses- a new toy, a new bathing suit, something for the beach, but never quite guessed what it was despite a few slips on the adults part from time to time.  She thought maybe it was the fireworks that night, but I told her it would arrive by car that morning.  She was stumped.  We headed out to the beach early that morning to pass some time awaiting the arrival of their surprise.  It was a beautiful morning out there with a great tidal pool right in front of us.  It was really deep and Andrew and Mary Mac enjoyed doing cannon balls and belly flops into it.
Emma was happiest on the beach when there was a tidal pool for her to run around in.
Andrew doing a backwards jump into the deep waters.
When I got word that her surprise was getting close, Mary McLean and I headed back up to the house to wait for it.
Her surprise pulling into the driveway, she really didn't know what to think, she was definately surprised and excited.
On the beach with her surprise-her best friend, Mackenzie!  Our friends the Grants came to visit us at the beach and spend the night!

Andrew and Mackenzie were making sand angels

Best friends
That sneaky pirate was back, and this time they each had their own treasure to dig up!
He also left a treasure that was a little too big to bury, that had glow necklaces, sparklers, silly string, and candy for all of them
Mary Mac thought her visor was supposed to be a crown.  Only a true princess would imagine that!  ;)
Andrew got his visor all decorated and ready to really celebrate!
The kids helped Nana decorate a flag cake for dessert
They enjoyed some homemade ice cream with their cake, among several other dessert selections we had available!
Scott couldn't even make it to 8:00!  Lame.

We took the kids out on the beach to spray their silly string

The kids had fun in the tidal pool
Emma got just "slightly" wet. haha!
Mary Mac and Mackenzie trying to wait for the fireworks to start
The beach was too windy for the sparklers, so we had to bring them back to the house.

We had a great 4th, celebrating with good food, good friends, and family!  And this year, all 3 of my kids were awake for the fireworks, they did however crash as soon as they were over.  Of course, so did the adults....
