On Saturday morning, we finished packing for our trip to Disney. The kids still had no idea where we were really going. All we told them was that we were going to Georgia on Saturday and spend the night in a hotel with Nana and Pops, then Sunday morning we were going to get up and drive to Florida to stay in another hotel.
Before we left, we had one last thing to do...go see Santa. As luck would have it, our neighborhood Manor House was hosting a "Cookies with Santa" on Saturday morning, so we dressed the kids in their Christmas clothes and headed over to have their pictures taken. We got there early enough to be 6th in line. Not a bad wait at all! Emma did not want to get anywhere near Santa without me, so once again, Marc and I joined in on the picture. Mary McLean did better this year, but still did not want to sit on his lap. She was just fine standing next to him. After having our picture taken and making some reindeer ornaments we headed back to the house to load up the car. We still had one more stop to make before hitting the road, I wanted to get a new memory card for the camera. I found one that would hold over 1,100 photos! Perfect! I knew I was going to be a picture taking fool!
We hit the road and called Nana and Pops to tell them we were on our way. We ended up meeting them at a rest area along I-26 and they followed us the rest of the way to Georgia. The kids did ok in the car, but I was really glad we weren't trying to drive all the way down there in one day!
We got to Brunswick around 5:00 Saturday night and checked into our hotel. The kids had a lot of energy to burn after riding in the car for so long, so we took them to a Burger King up the road for dinner, that had a playground. Unfortunately the playground was outside, so we didn't stay for too long since it was dark and getting colder. When we were getting back to the hotel, Andrew noticed the name of the hotel we were staying at was "La Quinta." He said to Nana, "La Quinta is spanish, this is where Spanish people stay, we aren't Spanish, so we need to go somewhere else to sleep!" Too funny!
The rest of the night was spent coloring and watching DVD's in the hotel rooms until time to go to bed....we had a big day the next day, they just didn't realize it yet....
