Thursday was Mary McLean's Christmas Program at preschool. She had been singing the songs for me for several weeks, so I just knew she was going to get up there and sing like a little angel. Wrong. She first got up there and was all smiles and excitement, until the little boys on either side of her started crying. She started looking around not knowing what was going on, and since she couldn't figure out what the problem was, I guess she decided if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. So then she broke down and started crying. She finally came to sit with me and my parents until the end of the program...oh well, there's always next year...
On Sunday, we had Christmas with Grandma and Grandpa. The kids were ecstatic to be able to open some presents. Their favorites by far have been: Andrew- Legos, he has been occupied for hours just building different things and playing with the construction equipment we built from them. Mary McLean- Princess easel, she has loved painting beautiful pictures of her favorite princesses. Emma- Playskool pinball machine, she loves the music and sounds it makes.
On Monday, the kids and I loaded up and headed to Columbia. It was FREEZING on Monday! We had talked about going to the lights at the zoo, but it was too cold, so we settled on driving through the lights at Saluda Shoals instead, since we could stay in our warm car. While we were in Columbia, the kids made reindeer cookies with Nana and we went to see Julia and they got some great presents from the Alleys. Andrew got a new Hess truck and bulldozer, and MM got a princess castle tent. It is so cute, she even had me set it up in her room last night so she could sleep in it! Emma got some books and a cute teddy bear that tells stories.
