Catch-up

This past week was a little crazy for us, so I fell behind somewhat on our blog. I will do a quick week-in-review for you in this post:

Monday:
Andrew has been bringing home "Accelerated Reader" books from school for a couple weeks now. They are what is considered easy-reader books and we read them together and he will read most of the words and then the next day or whenever he feels comfortable he takes the book back to school and is tested on words from the book. Well, Monday, Andrew brought home "The 3 Little Pigs" and read me the entire book all by himself without any help from me! I was so proud of him, he is really getting good at reading and sounding out words that he doesn't know. I'm so proud of my big boy!

Tuesday:
I was up all night Monday with Mary McLean screaming about her ear hurting. Tuesday morning I took her back to the doctor and found out she had a slight ear infection, he said it wasn't too red yet, but we probably caught it pretty early. He gave us a px for some Augmentin and some ear numbing drops. Hopefully we will get this little one well (and keep the other two well) before we head to Disney.

Wednesday:
Marc's birthday! The kids were off from school and we only had Campbell until 11:00, so we headed to Toddle Time at the library that morning and all 4 of them enjoyed themselves. Emma however did NOT want to leave the library. After Toddle Time was over, Andrew and Mary McLean went over and picked out some books. Emma found all the child-sized furniture and was having the best time climbing in and out of the chairs and off benches. She threw a minor tantrum when I picked her up to leave....
After Campbell went home, Andrew and Mary McLean helped me fix some special things for Marc's birthday dinner. Deviled Eggs are a favorite of his (and the kids as well), so they helped me put the mayo and mustard in and mix everything up, they were especially helpful with the taste testing to make sure we had put in the right combination of mayonnaise to mustard. They kept telling me they needed another taste to make sure....little stinkers! Then they helped me bake some chocolate chip cookies (another favorite of Marc's). If you know Marc well, then you know he does not eat desserts, he doesn't like cake, or the normal birthday confections, but he LOVES chocolate chip cookies. Again, the kids were helpful in taste testing the chocolate chip morsels to make sure they were safe to put in the cookies.

Thursday:
We headed down to Greenville to enjoy a nice Thanksgiving dinner with Marc's family. It was great seeing everyone, it had been almost 7 months since we had seen Jill and Andy! The guys played golf and the kids ran wild at Grandma's house until we ate.
Marc had to work on Friday, so it was me and 3 kids in the hotel room. It really wasn't too bad, they did surprisingly well. Mary McLean took some time to wind down, but after she did she was fine. Emma woke up twice during the night (I think she has her 4th molar coming in), luckily her crying didn't even phase Andrew or Mary Mac, as they didn't budge while I calmed Emma down. This was all very reassuring to me since we are about to spend an entire week in one hotel room while we are at Disney! ;)

Saturday:
The kids spent Friday night at Grandma and Grandpa's so Marc and I could head out bright and early for the Clemson/Carolina game. We got up a little after 5am (before you think we are crazy, and how can I function on that little sleep...I had fallen asleep super early the night before, so when waking up at that unseemly hour, I had still had my required 9 hours of sleep!) heehee
We picked up our friend, David (our good luck charm for Clemson/Carolina games), around 6:45 and headed off to Clemson. It was a nasty day outside with all the rain, and it definitely got colder as the day wore on. We made the best of the yucky weather and still had a great time with everyone. Once again, my mighty Tigers prevailed with a 31-14 win over those nasty Gamecocks (and that is the last time you will see that dirty word written on my blog)! ;)
I was very proud of the Tigers and thought they played with such heart. I definitely think they played for their coach yesterday. I believe they were trying to make a statement that they believe in Dabo, and I will be very disappointed if he is not offered the head coaching job....but that's a whole other post....
Bottom line is:
CLEMSON 31- Carolina 14!

I'll post pics from our week as soon as I download them from my camera....
