Oh Andrew...

Anyone who knows Andrew well, knows that he loathes anything "green" touching his plate, especially green beans. (It's a wonder how green became his favorite color) We have fought and fought with Andrew over the years about eating his green beans. He even became quite talented at making himself gag and throw up after the smallest touch of them to his tongue.

Last night I was making dinner which consisted of the dreaded vegetable, Andrew came in the kitchen as I was putting them in the pot....

Andrew: Mom, I'm not having green beans, you better not put them on my plate.
Me: Well, you know what happens if you don't eat your dinner, you have to go to bed early.
Andrew: Don't put them on my plate, I'm not eating them.
Me: I guess you will be in bed before your sisters tonight.
Andrew (getting more upset by the second): What's that?
Me: The beef bullion cube.
Mary McLean: What's that for?
Me: It's what makes the green beans taste so yummy.
Andrew (in full whinning mode): Well, it doesn't work, don't give them to me!!!

Oh, Andrew....

Andrew came into my bathroom tonight as I was changing my shirt for the umpteenth time for Bunco....
Andrew: Why are you changing your shirt again?
Me: Because I didn't like what I had on
Andrew: Daddy doesn't change his shirt this much
Me: Well, that's because Daddy's not fat like me and looks good in his clothes
Andrew: Don't say that, it's not nice!
Me: What's not nice?
Andrew: Saying the word "fat"
Me: But I'm talking about myself, so it's ok, as long as I'm not calling someone else fat.
Andrew (very sadly): But I was fat when I was a baby...
Me: Oh honey, you weren't fat, you were snuggly, just like Emma!

Oh Andrew...so, if you're around him, don't say anything about him being a fat baby, he's very sensitive about that. ;)

On another note, Marc and I had our first parent-teacher conference this week with Andrew's teacher. Andrew is doing VERY well and is even in the top group in his class. He got all 3's on his report card too! (For you old school people out there like me, that's like an A) She said he really thrives in Science (like his daddy) and Social Studies. He loves learning geography. Today he came home and told me about the new composer they were learning about, John Williams. He said, "We're learning about a new composer now named, John Williams. He's not dead, but the other ones we learned about are." Oh Andrew....
