Conversations with Mary Mac

Last night I was telling Mary McLean that next week we were going to go see Grandma and Grandpa (Marc's parents) and stay in a hotel, poor thing got all confused. Usually when we stay in a hotel we are going to see MY Grandma and Grandpa (her great-grandparents), the way her mind wanders from one thing to another cracks me up:

Me: We're going to stay in a hotel next week when we go see Grandma and Grandpa.
MM: YAY!!!! Are the other Grandma and Grandpa (Marc's parents) going to be there?
Me: No, sweetie, we're going to see Daddy's mom and dad, not Great-Grandma and Grandpa.
MM: Oh, is Rori coming too?
(Lori, my friend from Clemson. Lori comes to the Clemson games with us and sometimes if it's an early game we will go to Greenville the night before and stay in a hotel)
Me: No, Lori is going to see her mommy and daddy.
MM: Why?
Me: Because they're her family and they want to see her.
MM: What kind is her daddy?
Me: What do you mean, honey?
MM: I mean, what kind is her daddy? (duh)
Me: Ummm (thinking).....a yankee!?
MM: Why is he a nankee?
Me: A yankee. Because he is from the north and that is what we call them. (heehee)
MM: Oh.

Ha. You should tell her that Rori is a "nankee" too! :) At least you were able to satisfy her question!
